When to Use

Use the present tense to describe current actions, habitual actions, general truths, and states of being. Also used for actions happening now or regularly.

Important Rules

  • AR verbs: -o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an
  • ER verbs: -o, -es, -e, -emos, -éis, -en
  • IR verbs: -o, -es, -e, -imos, -ís, -en
  • Many common verbs are irregular in the yo form or have stem changes
  • Some verbs are completely irregular (ser, ir, estar)

hablar → hablo, hablas, habla, hablamos, habláis, hablan
